2009 NFL Survivor Elimination Pool - Week 7 Pick Strategy

1. Please decide if you think your pool will last beyond week 12. If so, please read on in this paragraph, if not please skip to the next paragraph (This is important, b/c if your pool is going to last past 12 you will need to save the Pats and Colts for those weeks). If you're pool has more than 20 left, you should definitely be reading this paragraph. Your best option in week 7 is to use the Giants. If you've already used the Giants (which most of you have), then use Green Bay this week. If you've already used Green Bay, then you're next best option is New Orleans.

2. If your pool has less than 10 people left, you should definitely be reading this paragraph. Your best choice this week is the Colts, followed the Patriots. Warning, you will have no good choices if you survive to week 13.

  1. um..your post is saying I'm screwed now..yikes..I put my pick in as Indaianapolis already for week7. You have my earlier picks which are all the teams you said to use..my picks for upcoming weeks are starting with wk8 CHI,NO,MIN,CIN,ATL,SD,NE,HOU,ARI,
DEN...from whatI'm looking at I'm not up shit creek..a couple weeks I may choose differently, but your opinion...?

  2. I am in two pools. In one there were only 8 people to begin with, and we got three strikes before you are eliminated. Everyone has one strike but me. I have none. I would assume because of this, I should pick GB. (I have already used Indy week 1) Saving NE for future use.

In the other pool, we are down to 11 teams. It is a yahoo! public league. I should probably use NE in that one (I used Indy week 1 here too). I appreciate the time and effort you put into giving us a source to refer to when deciding who to pick. Have a nice day. Also, good luck to everyone who reads this in a Survivor elimination pool.

  3. Thanks for the advice...I appreciates your picks. I'm in a 366 person pool...it's down to 136 people right now. As much as I want to take NE/Ind...I'm going to take your advice and go with Green Bay.

  4. Hi - wanted to say thanks for putting this together - I am in one survivor pool with 220 people still left in it. Started with 600 ! I still have a choice to pick all the ones you recommended for this week - Am feeling I should pick both Colts and Pats - but after reading your post - why save colts until week 13?

  5. Thanks for the Green Bay recommendation! I was the only 1 out of 16 left to use them (everyone else used Indy or NE). I can only hope that I make it to Week 13, as by then, I will be the only team with one of those two teams left.

I really appreciate your insight and write ups and analysis. Thanks again for everything, and I look forward to week 8 recommendations.

  7. Chris, sorry it didn't work out with the Giants in week 7. My official comment is "You gave yourself the best chance to win it all". But, sometimes there are upsets and as Chris Berman would say "That's why they play the game". Besides, somebody has to win an elimination pool, which means everybody else has to guess wrong at some point in the season.

  9. How is week 8 looking? So far I have used NO, WASH, BAL, SF, NYG, PIT, GB. I was thinking about using Chicago in Week 8, but after last weeks game, not too sure. I don't see a sure fire blowout other than possibly Chicago's game, any thoughts? Again, greatly appreciated, and you have gotten me this far!

  10. Unsure of week 8, was going to use Chicago, but watch out here comes Houston playing in Buffalo...don't think the Bills no-huddle is going to stand a chance
